They're really a taste I acquired once I had my first home and was totally in charge of what I ate, so from age twenty.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726164724131916224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3896642794207631523.post-18521638923492260612019-01-03T14:17:28.869+00:002019-01-03T14:17:28.869+00:00Phil, I suppose that forty years is a bit of a mis...Phil, I suppose that forty years is a bit of a misrepresentation as for the first fifteen I didn't really cook anything (although I helped Mum with the baking). I had the first real home of my own at age twenty so maybe it should be "for the first twenty years that I was cooking".<br />Mind you, we did of course have soup - out of a tin or a packet. The only home made soup that my mum produced was at Christmas with the leftover chicken.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726164724131916224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3896642794207631523.post-1051643001464167472019-01-03T11:36:23.742+00:002019-01-03T11:36:23.742+00:00I never transfer stuff into a jug when I stick ble...I never transfer stuff into a jug when I stick blend either. Parsnip soup is one of those things that I didn't grow up with and never really developed a taste for, despite working with a group of people who were mad for it in London. It's interesting how one happily adopts some new foods and not others.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06472449597146519943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3896642794207631523.post-42109922406333828052019-01-02T22:51:00.698+00:002019-01-02T22:51:00.698+00:00Forty soupless years!!??! Mind you, when I started making soup as a youngish thing my family refused to eat it because it was too posh and strange and normal people didn't eat such things. Parsnips make wonderful soup and that combination with ginger is an excellent notion. I got a decent stick blender for Christmas 2017 and I've hardly used my poor old jug blender at all in 2018.
